BB&T Makes EITC Donation to the Foundation for Pottstown Education

BB&T recently supported the work of the Foundation for Pottstown Education through funding in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC).  The check for $1,000 was presented to the Foundation from Elizabeth McMahon, Administrative Assistant Greater Delaware Valley Region.  The donation will support the Early College Program which provides juniors and seniors at the Pottstown High School the opportunity to take courses at the Montgomery County Community College West Campus.

EITC is a program providing tax credits to eligible businesses contributing to a Scholarship Organization, an Educational Improvement Organization, and/or a Pre-Kindergarten Scholarship Organization.   Businesses, as well as organizations receiving the EITC funding,  must apply and be approved by the Department of Community and Economic Development to participate.

The Early College Program is one of many initiatives that the Foundation for Pottstown Education offers to the students of the Pottstown School District and is a program that is approved to receive the EITC funds.  The students accepted into this program can enroll in courses at the Montgomery County College West Campus here in Pottstown.  Upon successful completion of the two year program, the student will have their freshman year of College completed as they graduate high school.  BB&T’s financial support of this program aligns with one area of their Mission, Making the communities in which we work better places to be.

Thank you BB&T for your support of our Foundation.
